Is My CBD a Vegan Product? – Guide

Is My CBD a Vegan Product

CBD which is the short term for the natural plant extract, cannabidiol, is a biochemical found in the Hemp or cannabis plant. According to research there have been over 120 different elements found in this plant, and scientists are still not convinced that these are all of them, there may still be more and perhaps even over 150, and to no surprise, all of them are good for us!

Even THC, scientifically known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, in small amounts is good for us and can be looked up here; it is the psychoactive chemical that makes people feel high and sometimes paranoid. Out of all the elements found in this plant the two most prevalent ones are CBD and THC.

By law, any product that is sold on shelves of health and food stores or online should have below 0.3% THC in it to not affect you in any way. The CBD can be as much as you want it to be, but only the purest and most organic forms have the highest amounts in them with the best beneficial properties to them.

What Is CBD Good For?

It is good for an assortment of things and even though the NIFA (National Institute of Food and Agriculture) or the USDA has not completely legalized it in all states, the majority of them in the USA and other neighboring countries have done so for recreational use. Manufacturers have been going with this and have already rumbled into producing a variety of different products for consumers to use in treating different ailments or for their overall well-being.

So, what is CBD good for? We take a look below.

It should be no surprise that marijuana has been around and used medicinally since the 2900 B.C, and now especially due to the public exposure of all the benefits that scientists and researchers have found, are we interested in being part of the club too.

It has been seen to aid both the human and animal body and mind, particularly with dogs, cats, and horses. Both ours and our pets’ bodies produce what are called ‘endocannabinoids’, through our circulatory systems, which is the central nervous system, and particular neurotransmitters that help bind with the CBD receptors in this complex system, are the ones responsible for relieving several conditions.

Explanation of the neurotransmitters

A simpler explanation of the neurotransmitters and the body can be found here: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/cbd-oil-benefits#TOC_TITLE_HDR_2. The health benefits include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Enhancing Sleep for those suffering from Insomnia
  • Increasing Appetite for us and our pets for those who are sick or anorexic
  • Helps to build immunity so we do not get sick often
  • Has helped treat seizures and epilepsy patients
  • Has been seen to alleviate symptoms of Alzheimer’s in sufferers
  • Has resulted in positive effects on the skin of patients with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis
  • It has helped relieve joint pain and inflammation and increase mobility

To name a few things

Do we need any more convincing? Somehow, we don’t think so. In some cases, some people are not yet convinced because they are unsure of whether CBD is Vegan or not, and we can clear that up for you here.

Are CBD Products Vegan?

Veganism can sometimes be a confusing topic, especially if you throw eggs into the mix (excuse the pun!). In any case, we won’t bore you with the details. We’re here to discuss if CBD is vegan or not. The simplest answer to this is – Yes, pure unadulterated CBD is Vegan. However, if you are asking about all products with CBD in them, there is no simple answer to this.

Unless you buy from a grower and seller who sells only raw and organic CBD products, for example, cheefbotanicals, you may not be guaranteed a pure vegan product, because of all the other additives in the bottle that are there to enhance its taste, color, consistency, look and feel. Some manufacturers may use products from other unnatural sources. If the oil is pure, it should be vegan.

The best thing you can do is to look through the list of all the ingredients before you buy it and decide things for yourself. Another item you should look out for is the “leaping bunny” logo on the product packaging, this is the emblem that signifies that it has not been tested on animals and that it is cruelty-free.
